‘Halo 4′ Release Date Officially Announced

Halo fans rejoice! As you may well remember, on June 4, 2011, Halo 4 was officially announced at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles. Since the announcement, Halo fans have been anxiously awaiting for more info on the upcoming title, particularly its release date. Fans finally got their wish on Tuesday when the release date for the next entry in the Halo franchise, November 6th, 2012, was announced via the official Halo 4 Facebook page. Halo 4, the eighth installment in the franchise, will be taking a new direction with 343 industries now handling the game’s development rather than Bungie Studios.

“We are beginning a new saga with Halo 4 and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of Halo games and experiences”, says Phil Spencer, the corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios. “Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and with Halo 4 leading the charger, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history.”

Set four years after the events of Halo 3, the developers have stressed that Halo 4 will rely more on mystery, discovery, and exploration as gamers step back into the role of Master Chief. In addition to these new elements, setting it apart from the original trilogy, 343 Industries has stated that the title will be part of a three-game arc from the beginning and that that while many of the graphics of the game have been reworked, the upcoming title is still Halo at heart, but “with its own voice”.

In 2007, Halo 3 wound up breaking single-day sales records, reaching $170 million in the U.S and beating the previous record setter of Halo 2, which earned $125 million within 24 hours of its relaunch.

Do you think Halo 4 can beat those numbers?
