It’s hard to believe, but it’s been eight years since we’ve seen Thomas Jane take up the role as Frank Castle in The Punisher. Fans of The Punisher have always loved Jane’s portrayal or the character in the film released back in 2004 and were always slightly disappointed when he fell out of the proposed sequel that wound up becoming Punisher: War Journal, a much bloodier and true-to-the-comics take on the character.
As a nod to the character he once portrayed (and many loved), Thomas Jane has spearheaded the following fan film, which was screened at San Diego Comic-Con, as an ode to the character he loves so dearly. Tapping into the grittier style that we saw in Punisher: War Zone, the short film is titled “Dirty Laundry” and even features an appearance by actor Ron Perlman.
“I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in – a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.” – Thomas Jane
Now that the motion picture rights for The Punisher are back in Marvel’s hands after three lackluster box office attempts, fans can always hope that Marvel sees the potential in Thomas Jane to help bring the popular vigilante into the established Cinematic Universe.
