Neil Armstrong, the first U.S. astronaut to walk on the moon, reportedly passed away on Saturday, several weeks after having heart surgery and just days after the pilot celebrated his 82nd birthday.

Armstrong became a household name around the world after commanding the Apollo 11 spacecraft where he became the first man to walk on the moon on July 20th 1969 and stated the famous “one giant leap for mankind” passage.
