Warner Bros. has released a brand new trailer for the Batman-inspired multiplayer FPS, Gotham City Impostors, which shows off the newly announced free-to-play system being rolled out for PC users. The latest trailer arrives on the heels of Warner Bros. Interactive’s announcement that the Batman-themed shooter is now going to become free to play, much to the dismay of all those who may have already purchased it.
According to details found in the Warner Bros. press release, “Those who download the Gotham City Impostors Free to Play via the Steam client will have access to the original game, as well as all DLC packs, which includes new maps, weapons, mascots and more. Players will also join-in-progress matchmaking that ensures gamers are placed into populated matches.”
Gotham City Impostors is an original download-only first-person shooter where up to 12 players battle for control of an unhinged Gotham City overrun by Impostors inspired by the DC Comics characters Batman and The Joker. Gotham City Impostors is an online multiplayer game unlike any other, giving players the opportunity to engage in unconventional urban warfare as they personalize their own Impostors. Gamers will create their very own version of the Bats or the Jokerz characters using unprecedented customization options including insane costumes, homemade gadgets and a wide range of traditional and inventive weapons. The game will feature maps and modes inspired by DC Comics’ Batman license.
Those who purchase Gotham City Impostors online via Steam will receive eight player maps (Amusement Mile, Ace Chemical, Arkham Asylum, Crime Alley, The Docks, East End, Gotham Power, and 25th Floor) and four game modes (Bounty Hunter, Fumigation, Psych Warfare, and Team Deathmatch). A new online system will also be implemented in the Steam version, allowing players join in on games that have already begun on the server.
