Lucasfilm has made the official announcement that they will be re-releasing Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith back-to-back in theaters, after giving both a 3D conversion, on September 20th, 2013 and October 11th, 2013 respectively.
The announcement follows the 3D re-release of Star Wars – Episode I: The Phantom Menace, which was released back in February. The film made a less than stellar box office impact, bringing in only $43.5 million at the domestic box office while taking in $102.7 million worldwide. Regardless, these numbers were apparently good enough for Lucasfilm to move forward on releasing the next two films in the prequel trilogy back-to-back.
