Adult Swim Set To Debut Robot Chicken ‘DC Comics Special’
Comic Book fans everywhere are grabbing their snacks and prepping their couches for Robot Chicken’s DC Comics Special which is set to air tonight on Adult Swim. The DC Comics Special officially kicks off Season 6 of the Emmy Award-winning series from collaborators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich. The two have already waded waist-deep into Star Wars territory for their stop-motion comedy sketch series, and are now turning their attention to the iconic characters found within the pages of DC Comics.
While the series is no stranger to poking fun at DC Comics characters in the past (particularly Aquaman), the upcoming season premiere is intended to be something more than just a few silly jokes. The creative team even enlisted the help of DC’s chief creative officer Geoff Johns to help add a unique type of magic to the upcoming episode. In fact, Johns has lent his writing talents to Robot Chicken on more than one occasion in the past as he is close friends with the guys at Robot Chicken in real life.
“There were a lot of questions: Do you really want Robot Chicken to dive into DC Comics? Hell yes we do,” said Geoff Johns. “They didn’t do the Star Wars specials because they hated Star Wars. They had a lot of fun with it, and it celebrates the love and the laughter we have.
“We laugh at this stuff but we still love the characters.”
In addition to the writing talents, fans of the show will be happy to hear that several high-profile celebrities have also joined the project to lend their voices for the animation, including Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern), Megan Fox (Wonder Woman), Breckin Meyer (Superman), Alfred Molina (Lex Luthor), Neil Patrick Harris (Two-Face) and Paul Reubens (Riddler).
Given the love that the whole creative department has for these characters, fans should be on the lookout for plenty of Easter eggs and non-stop laughter when the DC Comics Special debuts at midnight tonight on Adult Swim.
