Fan Hopes to Kickstart SUPERMAN LIVES Documentary

Comic book fans around the world are sure to remember that brief shining moment when Tim Burton was tapped to direct the wildly-imaginative Superman movie, Superman Lives, that came very close to going into production in the early 90s. Loosely based on “The Death of Superman” storyline from the comics, the film was set to star Nicholas Cage as the Man of Steel and even had the first draft of the script written by Kevin Smith. Clearly, the film never went into production and fans have only had bits and pieces of concept art and screen test photos to surmise what may have developed on the big screen.

Now, Jon Schnepp, the producer, director and cinematographer behind such hits as Metalocalypse, The Venture Bros and the upcoming animated horror film, Grimm Fairy Tales, wants to bring Tim Burton’s vision to life through his very own Kickstarter campaign.

The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened? is a Feature Length Documentary about the unmade movie “Superman Lives”. This film, out of all the various attempts to make a Superman movie between 1987 and 2006, would have stood the test of time and become a bonafide Cult Classic nowadays. I am not alone with my intense interest in knowing everything I can about this project, and so now I’m embarking on making a Documentary that will cover everything ever made for this film, from interviewing as many people as I can who were involved, to including actually recreating scenes from the script!!!

You can learn all about the project and stay informed of updates on the official Kickstarter page.
