It seems that Marvel has cast the lead role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie as Deadline has reported that Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) has signed a deal with the studio to play Star-Lord. According to the report, Pratt beat out fellow Zero Dark Thirty actor Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, and Eddie Redmayne for the lead role, one that will be supported by characters such as Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora, all of whom have yet to be cast.
The premise of the team upon which the upcoming film will be based revolves around Star-Lord (aka, Peter Quill), the child of a human mother and alien father who finds himself leading a group of intergalactic superheroes to protect the galaxy from stellar threats. The team eventually finds themselves crossing paths with The Avengers, which everyone hopes to see when James Gunn delivers the Guardians of the Galaxy movie in August 2014.
James Gunn is set to begin pre-production the film very shortly in London and rumors have already begun to circulate that we may see teasers for the film embedded in this Summer’s Iron Man 3.
