It’s official! ABC has officially announced that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. tv pilot has been picked up and is now heading for a full season to premiere this Fall. The upcoming series, whose pilot episode was directed and co-written by Joss Whedon, will effectively bring Marvel’s cinematic universe to the small screen.
The logic behind greenlighting such a series is not very hard to comprehend when you consider all it has going for it. Not only will the upcoming series serve as an additional live-action foray into Marvel’s cinematic universe, but it will also serve as a direct spin-off of The Avengers – the third highest grossing film of all time.
In addition to confirming the good news, ABC also revealed the official logo for the series as well as the first cast photo featuring Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson standing front and center. The remaining cast members include Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizaeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye and J. August Richards in a yet-to-be-revealed role.
