Universal Pictures has announced the new title and release date for the next installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, now officially titled Jurassic World, which will arrive in theaters on June 12, 2015. Despite having the franchise remain in development hell for more than a decade, the studio does have filmmaker Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) attached to direct the upcoming film with Steven Spielberg serving as producer.

The film had originally been set for a 2014 as reported back in May, but by pushing the film back to a 2015 release, Jurassic World will now go up against several other major franchises releasing films that summer, including The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Wars: Episode VII and the highly-anticipated sequel to Man of Steel.

Universal has also confirmed that the film will be shot in 3D which should really come as no surprise considering how well the 3D re-release of Jurassic Park did in theaters earlier this year.
